Online Workshop : Living Educational Theory

We frequently come across life-affirming and life-enhancing values through our experiences in our personal, social, and professional lives, which give our lives meaning and purpose. These ideals may inspire hope for humanity’s future since they prompt us to consider how we may better ourselves. In turn, deliberate and ongoing reflection on this issue may aid in the clarification of the values themselves, giving us illustrative guidelines and benchmarks to assess improvements in both practice and knowledge development. The need of including these ontological and relational values and understandings in explanations of how education impacts people is emphasized by the Living Educational Theory (Living Theory).

The living educational theory emphasizes the importance of extending the influence of these ontological and relational values and understandings in explanations of educational influence. In living theory individuals hold their lives accountable by creating accounts of their living-educational theories, which explanation how their living values has influenced their own learning, as well as other people’s and societal formations’ learning, in response to questions like “How am I improving what I am doing?” (Whitehead,1989). This online workshop aids participants through the development of their own living theories, which may ultimately aid in empowering participants to make sense of their experiences and improve themselves in both their personal and professional lives.
